Singapour Exchange: Creative Workshop

Being selected to participate an exchange with students from Nanyang Polytechnic University was an interesting and exciting opportunity as it gave me the chance to work with students from different disciplines and countries. This was interesting as their way of working was different as well as the work they produce as many of the exchange students where studying either motion graphics or animation. This provided an interesting talking point as I was amazed by the quality of the work and the outcomes they where able to produce so easily.

In relation to the creative workshop I found it very helpful as it provided new ways of idea generation which involved getting rid on your first initial ideas and push to think of other more interesting ideas you might have otherwise discounted. For the workshop specifically my group was working to create ideas based on 'life under water' one of the United Nations 17 global goals. This form of idea generation allowed each member to create multiple ideas from which we discussed which would have the most impact and be easiest to implement. This section of the workshop is something I hadn't considered before within my own creative practice as weighing up ideas based on impact and implementation makes it very easy to identify which are more plausible and which can be pushed further to create the best outcome. This process is something I plan to incorporate into my own practise as I think it will allow me to develop and create more interesting ideas as I will discount my very initial ideas within the first section of this activity to push myself to think of other less obvious outcomes.
