Dr. Me Lecture

Dr. Me's lecture about their personal practise was particularly interesting due to their focus on collage (see figure 1 and 2) as I had previously been unaware of a studio specialising in collage so this was particularly interesting to learn about. They spoke about there reasons for choosing collage as they wanted to be different and didn't like big design studios. Throughout their talk they raised the importance of collaboration and taking advantage of your fellow students both within graphics and within other disciplines as this allows you to create new opportunities and experiment with different styles. Another important point they raised was to go and experience things whether its gallery shows to new countries as this will influence your work and help you grow as a designer.  It was also intersting listening to how they work as a pare with each creating an idea for a client and then whichever the client prefers then they work on that with the original designer taking control and the other offering help/critique when needed. Furthermore it was interesting to hear about there 365 days worth of collage poster which involved creating a collage a day for a year (see figures 1-2) and the use of both primary and found imagery which they promoted through Instagram. Overall I found this lecture particularly interesting as collage is an area I wouldn't normal experiment with however may start to incorporate within my work as inspired by Dr. Me.
