Reflective Practise: A2 Poster

In order to respond to this studio brief I thought about the categories involved and what they mean to me and how I've developed since starting university.

Things I've Learnt:
- its alright to miss home
- not to be so stubborn/reluctant to try new things
- failure is good
- I really like grids/things to be aligned

Things that have Engaged Me:
- industry talks
- visting studios
- varied briefs
- facilities available
- gallery visits

Things I've Disliked:
- blogging
- lectures
- essays
- workload

Ambitions (level 5 and beyond):
- achieve a 1st in a module in first year
- continue to progress and improve my skills
- develop my approach to design
- be more conceptual with ideas

Consequently reflecting on these areas and my own practice I've based my poster (figure 1) on a research trip earlier in the year to the Hepworth Gallery as this photo reflects my love for straight lines and grids which is reflected within the architecture. Furthermore I found our research trip very interesting due to the varied range of sculpture and artwork within the gallery. In addition I've included two points from each section above at the bottom of the poster equally spaced to further reflect the use of grids within my work. I've chosen to produce the poster in this way as I've visually represented the most important item from the list above as getting out of the studio and visiting galleries and professionals is what has inspired and engaged me the most which is the most important aspect of my personal practice. I also experimented within the use of photography of architecture within Liverpool (see figure 2 and 3) however I felt this didn't accurately reflect the most important aspects of what I've learnt over the course of this year.
